Menetrier disease

Menetrier disease Jan 23, 2005
Patient with known alcohol abuse with hypoproteinemia, ascites and edema, having giant gastric folds identified on upper digestive endoscopy. Linear EUS showed diffuse thickening of layers two and three, with hyperechoic appearance, as well as minimal perigastric ascites fluid. Large forceps biopsies with histopathological exam were suggestive of Ménétrier disease. Helicobacter pylori was negative on the biopsies and by a rapid urease test.
