Pancreatic tail carcinoma |

|
Patient diagnosed with pancreatic tail carcinoma, confirmed by transabdominal US, CT scans and EUS with FNA. Due to severe pain, celiac plexus neurolysis was performed by transgastric EUS-guided injection of absolute alcohol. The procedure was done under real-time guidance of the needle anterior to the celiac trunk (clearly visualized with power Doppler). The needle is also controlled under direct endoscopic visualization. |

Patient diagnosed with pancreatic body carcinoma, confirmed by transabdominal US, CT scans and EUS with FNA. Celiac plexus neurolysis was performed by transgastric EUS-guided injection of absolute alcohol. The needle (red arrowheads) can be followed in real-time near the aorta and the emergence of the celiac trunk. Microbubbles were visualized during injection (blue arrow), near the left adrenal gland, with partial disappearance of the EUS image of the aorta. |
