Celiac plexus neurolysis

Pancreatic tail carcinoma Feb 13, 2005
Patient diagnosed with pancreatic tail carcinoma, confirmed by transabdominal US, CT scans and EUS with FNA. Due to severe pain, celiac plexus neurolysis was performed by transgastric EUS-guided injection of absolute alcohol. The procedure was done under real-time guidance of the needle anterior to the celiac trunk (clearly visualized with power Doppler). The needle is also controlled under direct endoscopic visualization.
